What is the most difficult thing about being a relay operator for you?For me, I thinkone thingis the fact that I have to help some punk teenagers to abuse the system for the deaf. The same idea goes for facilitating the crimes of the nigerians.

For me, its staying awake. Really. The dynamics of the types of calls we receive has changed drastically over the past month, and not for the better. Well, I dont mean it that way. We no longer have prison calls, for the most part. We still ocassionally get them, but not like a few months ago. Anyways, it seems like most calls that we get can drag on for a very long time. One day I think I took like a total of 8 very long calls.



Now, usually thats a good thing, but sometimes, if the people are speaking too slowly, or too fast, or whatever, it could be a struggle to stay awake. Other then that, Management just sucks royally, from everybody that has a different title then Relay Opr, except the janitors. They are cool.

I hear ya about staying awake, especially if you have a long-winded VCO. One of my biggest problems has always been needing to go to the bathroom and not being able to get off the call

having to put up with fucking management and some supervisors. Having to do prank calls like i've said if i wanted to be a phone sex opr i would have picked that job at least i would be getting paid by the minute. and of course the nigerians and their way of saying we can't determine if it's a deaf person or not. Um yeah a deaf person really wants to buy a home entertainment center and musical instruments.

ursexyopr- the home entertainment thing made me laugh... but here's an even better nigerian sale.  They called some supply company for a couple thousand sets of EARPLUGS.   Swear to god.  The poor guy on the phone finally caught on when he said
"Wait a minute, why do deaf people need earplugs?"

The most difficult thing for me is putting up with CSD's bullshit. It seems like every time you turn around there's some stupid new policy, and things just continue to change for the worse. If CSD actually gave a rat's ass about it's oprs, and also put an end to the scams and pranks, then relay wouldn't be too bad.

There are so many memo's, changes, and silly rules.  I get tired of being herded around like sheep.  I quit reading them.  I just don't pay attention.  This adherence thing is a total joke.  People will soon be getting fired right and left.   MORE than ever..... It just sucks all the way around.

Fraud calls are definitely the biggest issue for me. Although, prank calls aren't that far behind. And I think the worst calls are the phone sex calls, where the guy is too cheap to just dial a 900 number and instead gets off to me reading his sex escapades in a monotone voice. Ew.
