Hello All.I am currently in the middle of a transaction with a person that uses IP Relay and the internet to contact me. He sent me money orders for the product before I even confirmed the transaction. He says that he graduated from a reputable school, but in his e-mails and messages he makes common grammatical errors. I have now decided to cancel the transaction but he keeps on pushing for the product and refuses to give me an address so that I may return his money orders. Any suggestions?confused college student

Just my humble opinion but I would contact my local law enforcement, and if possible, try to get ahold of someone at the FBI....send copies of emails, etc.

You were very very smart to stop the transaction.  All scammers have pre-typed scripts which they cut and paste and make a lot of spelling and grammatical errors.  This is common knowledge on any 419 scam website.

Another suggestion would be to turn over these counterfeit money orders to your bank.....see if there is something they can do relating to attempted fraud.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Oh yeah it's a scam. Especially if he is asking you to cash the money orders and send the EXTRA back to him, commonly known as an "overpayment" scam. The money orders are fake, and if you send the cash and product you'll be out cash and product.

Question: Is he asking you to ship it in the United States?

Well, you as a business generally have the right to refuse service to people, especially when they seem fishy like this guy. Chances are the money orders are fake, so you don't have to have anyplace to send them to. I'd save them if I were you though, they may be able to trace back to the person whose acct. info he stole to make them. Just ignore him, refuse to have any further correspondence, and save all the info you can.

Very good advice, Roshni.  I'd suggest people threaten to go to the authorities before the big IGNORE.

Try and cash them if it doesn't work then explain the situation to the authorities, of course as though u had no idea what u were doing.

If it does work keep the cash and feed your poor starving student ass.

*twitches*

I mean... turn the fake money orders.... in to the police... or... yeah..............
