I understand that the relay operators have to follow some rules under which calls can be interrupted, which seems not to be too effective, hence the existence of this forum. I read that some(?) of you guys are trying to warn possible victims, for example by writing down the numbers of the victims and then calling them from home. I'd like to know how far spread this modality is within the operator community.

HI Robert! Welcome to the private threads.  Well.. for your question....  I think that operators will have a hard time answering that, because we're not allowed to talk about work things AT work.  It is awfully risky to tell your friend that you write things down, because your friend may tell someone else.  It's a risky thing.  I don't know though, maybe some here will answer.

I'm pretty sure that nobody in my center does this. There are a few of us who refuse to put the fraud calls through though. We don't bother waiting for the criteria to be met to call a supervisor over, we just end the call ourselves.

I just heard recently from an opr friend of mine, that she found out some very interesting things about her center.  Someone dropped a bomb to her that there is a network of opr's at her center that are working together to warn victims.  They write things down, or pass along victim numbers by reading them aloud to the person next to them, etc.... it's apparently very elaborate.  Like an opr revolt!  I love it.

I think it's pretty prevalent that opr's are warning victims.  The longer that an opr works there, the higher the likelihood that they are warning victims.  There is only so much powerlessness a person can take.  I was suprised to hear that at my old center, a friend of  mine had started doing warnings- she's the LAST person on earth you'd ever think would break a rule... she's just so... proper! lol.  So- it happens a lot, I think.

That's great news! Risking the job for saving victims. They have my utmost respect. Kudos!
