I saw you mentioning that about 90% of the calls that are being processed are 419 related calls.

1.: How many calls are being processed per day and per operator?
2..:How many IP operators are doing this job all over the us, approximately?
3.: How many calls are being interrupted and how many scams are actually successfully executed by the lads (in percent)?

1.: How many calls are being processed per day and per operator?

--- When I did a count for about 2 months last year...the AVERAGE on a medium level day is between 60-80 calls on average per day.  It's been a LOT busier this month, so I figure we're averaging higher now I haven't counted at all but there are times we're doing back to back calls for 2+ hours.  Then again too it depends on if you want to know day or night or overnights (Verizon does have a few 24 hour centers), and if you're talking strictly the IP Relay ops or if you count the State calls and such.

2..:How many IP operators are doing this job all over the us, approximately?

---  Again are you strictly going with IP Relay, and if so, are you wanting to count ALL companies that provide it?  Are you counting state relay or other private relay systems?

3.: How many calls are being interrupted and how many scams are actually successfully executed by the lads (in percent)?

---
Are you talking business fraud only or love fraud too or the new reverse fraud scams or banking scams?  It really depends.  Love fraud calls are the ones that get disconnected the least. Sometimes people are warned and still continue the call.  I'd say on average maybe out of the 20-30 calls an opr gets in a shift, about a third will actually go through their course and not get disconnected.  It really depends though on what type of fraud calls you are wanting to focus on

It seems I have no clue about the whole thing? Sorry for not being clear enough. I'm trying to get a rough guesstimation of the scope of the ip relay scam. Since scam calls are only (?) being relayed via IP relay, I'd only be interested in that (IP relay, all companies, all times, all types of 419 related scam calls).

Well I can find my notebooks from last fall, or I can start over again and do tallys for February to get a better idea of what's going on with the new year...cuase it seems like the volume has gone up a LOT the last couple weeks.

But I can do numbers again if that'd help out.  Towards the close of last year Fraud calls were usually about 20% of any given days calls for me...I work nights, so it might be higher for day shift people.  I'd say it's probalby more like 30% now, but that's just a guess.

Maybe cross-posting this in the "main" forum will get some more people who'll maybe track their calls for February to see what it's like from more than one person.

Question too on if we do count...Fraud callers tend to make MULTIPLE calls if they reach recordings or answering machines or people who hang up on them ...would you want mulitple calls from the same "originator" or just the number of them that come in?

I tried doing that - making a tally of the different types of calls, I gave up after something like:

out of 30 calls:
12 scam
9 legit
9 unknown ?

But. I hadn't been able to tally everything, I may try again soon.

ursexyopr when do you work?  I work closing shift so it's a little less then (although it's more to homes for "the object in ad for sal" at that time of night or love-fraud) during the day cause I hear coworkers bitching about the fraud calls

Come on guys, I've told you before, its the MINUTES to keep track of, not the number of particular calls. When you track the actual billed minutes we spend on fraud/pranks, its always more than 80%.

I'll keep track this whole week and report.
