When I know I'm not being watched, I give them a stern warning and hit ALT + ORIG RLS. Who's with me?

Yes. ORIG RLS means Originator Release, meaning the person who called into relay. I got written up tonight for not paying attention to a scam call. CAN YOU FUCKING BELIEVE THAT SHIT!?!?!?!?!?!? I don't think I'm much longer for this job.

what?  your company/software has an Originator Release feature??  wait, what is that exactly?

there used to be a couple of button combos we could press that would disconnect the call (with little likelihood of getting caught).. but now they fixed our software so it's no longer effective.  now the only way to get rid of it is to actually disconnect the caller.. which isn't quite as smooth, but i'll do it after dialing 50 different businesses.  seriously, i think the endless amount of numbers the nigerians have at hand is one of the most annoying parts about processing those calls.....

Orig release sounds exactly like an "Orig Disconnect" where you hang up on the originating party.  Where I worked, once you hit the "orig disconnect button, you only had 15 seconds or so before it disconnected the call on the term's end too.

Question for "No Plms".....

Does your company have fraud disconnect procedures?  You don't have to tell the company, and PLEASE don't reveal the disconnect criteria.. but it kind of sounded like your company doesn't disconnect scammers after they meet the criteria.  I thought every IP Relay company did those now.......  Correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes, our company has disconnect procedures.  The scammer gets "flagged" if they meet the criteria and what-not.

We don't use the same terms as you do.. I have never heard anything like "Originator Release"    Ok, now I understand what you all are talking about.

Anyway, yes.. we are able to disconnect if they're detected as potential scammers by the supervisor.. However, some callers are able to make us dial number after number without meeting our company's criteria-  so sometimes I'll pull the disconnect on them myself.  our company's software used to have some glitch in it where if you pressed a certain combo of keys during internet calls it would hang up on the internet caller.. only it shows up on the screen as though they hang up.  i don't know if this is making sense.. but anyway, it was an easy way of getting rid of scammers without sup. approval.

AT&T has no disconnect procedure.  As a matter of fact, if you don t process a scam call and you get caught, you get suspended.

i work for att and were told to process all scam calls and treat them like regular relay calls ..  i was told its my job to put all calls thru like my supervisor was sitting next me..        we were told if we want a pay check process the fraud calls..  so i have a mortgage and kids and i do what im told..  but most people that the scammers contact know about ip relay and are hanging up on them and telling them they all do business with somone that works in to their place of business..
