The scammer had her pretending to be an employee for a major cell-phone company, calling to get the customer's vital account information regarding the person's identity, like SSN, and goodness knows what else. My friend says the person gladly gave the scammin' creep this info. My friend is a nice follow the rules type of gal, and processed the call. I think I would have hung up. It's bad enough we have to help these folks with their credit card scams and love scams, but impersonating someone so they can steal an innocent person's identity is just the bottom of the barrel, as far as I am concerned.Have any of you guys ever gotten a call like that?

Apprently your center has no critera for fraud or shitty criteria because if someone asks us to do that it's actually an Abuse call asking the operator to pretend to be someone they're not.

However if they're simply typing it as a phishing call...call a supervisor over.

There's not much to say that wouldn't result in putting our criteria on here...sorry.

We can call a supervisor over to our station if the caller is trying to involve the relay operator in one of those stupid sex calls, but to be honest, we don't even have that all that many instances when the callers are trying to involve the relay operator. Usually these immature idiots are more interested in amusing their friends.

I really wish my friend had informed management about that scammer making her impersonate someone, but as far as I know, she didn't say a word. Who can blame her? We have expressed our concern to the supervisors about the love scams, and the calls to banks to get information on people's accounts, but they will not do anything. Surprise, surprise.

Welcome to the forums!  And yes, it is very sad what opr's have to do now, for the scammers.  It's sickening.
