I found these articles about the topic we all know sooooo well. The US addresses that the nigerians use to get their stolen goods shipped to them. They have the US addresses, and then have the packages re-shipped to nigeria. Well, I always thought that about 80 % of the people who were reshipping for them were in on the scam.... check out these articles.http://www.usatoday.com/money/industries/technology/2005-07-11-mules-side-usat_x.htmFrom the article:Other U.S. agencies positioned to stop reshippers ? the U.S. Postal Service, U.S. Customs and the Secret Service ? must similarly win local support in Eastern Europe, South America and Asia, says Paul Luehr, a former federal cybercrimes prosecutor."The international aspect of these cases simply adds another complex level of cooperation that must be present," says Luehr, now general counsel at security consultant Stroz Friedberg. The U.S. agencies have just begun to coordinate cybercrime-fighting activities through groups such as the Internet Crime Complaint Center and the Merchant Risk Council, an industry group formed to fight online fraud.Meanwhile, reshipping rings continue to flourish. Mikhail Penkovsky, commercial director for security software maker Agnitum, based in St. Petersburg, Russia, says the typical Russian ring is made up of a half-dozen operatives in their 20s or 30s. Based on reports from contacts who move in criminal circles, Penkovsky estimates there are 50 to 100 rings based in Moscow, each receiving about $20,000 worth of stolen goods a month."That's almost $2 million a month from Moscow," he says. "We can imagine how much more is being done in St. Petersburg and other cities."As you have read, they have RINGS- people who actually know they're helping the scammers.... but I'll post further info about how some people get drawn in without realizing they are shipping stolen goods.
