why don't you just quit if you hate your job so much to the point that you are on this forum bitching about work more then you are actually at work? I for one actually like the Madison center, and don't dread it like you apparently do. Like you said its not like there aren't a ton of $10 an hour jobs out there...

Yeah, if you look in the "Snow and special needs days" thread, they posted in the beginning of March saying they just started. They probably don't even realize how many fraud calls they're processing yet.

Can please someone PM me or post in the private thread saying which supervisors/ lead ops are still working at the Madison center, and what happened to the ones that aren't? No one tells me jack, and usually if I don't see someone for two weeks I assume they're gone, although they might have been moved to a different shift. I'm lucky if I can catch a supervisor's attention long enough to get my paycheck; they certainly aren't going to answer any of my questions.

There are a LOT of stupid, young kids at the Madison center who think abuse calls are funny. I assume it's one of those dumbasses that posted here. I, for one, really do NOT appreciate it when I hear another operator completely getting into an abusive call, and not having it disconnected.

First of all, grow up. How can you find it funny the millionth time you hear someone say "ass"? It wasn't funny the first time unless your sense of humor is in line with a 4th grader's. Seriously, sometimes I hear someone laughing in the cube next to me and I come soooo close to freaking out on them. Put up your damn cone.

Second, I nearly freak out because when you relay those calls in your "weee fun!" tones of voice, you make those kids think relay is this great entertainment machine just for their benefit. Then they connect to ME or a different, more mature (shall we say?) operator, who has to deal with them bitching us out because we have them disconnected and are "no fun". Those calls are supposed to be disconnected. If that's the part of this job you like, again, GROW UP, and please quit.

Third, I'd appreciate the men (boys actually), having a little more feeling towards what the women have to deal with in terms of abusive calls. As I've said before, it's depressing to be threatened with rape on a daily basis while I'm working. I can't think of many other jobs where women would have to deal with this and there be NOTHING done about it. You boys may laugh when the term calls you gay, but we are NOT laughing when we're being told they want to sodomize our corpse. AND YES, we hear things like that...a LOT!

If we had random drug testing, half the little tikes at Madison would be out the door. That's probably why we don't have it. I'm not against getting stoned, if that's your thing. I'm against you being stoned at work and staring glazy-eyed at your monitor while laughing at every swear word on your screen. It's getting OLD, please STOP.

Funny last time I bitched about the youngins I got such shit...but it's true.  Although the younger ones who've been around a while aren't the problem, it's the new ones that this is their first job so they think they're soooo cool to get a good paying job instead of burger flipper at McDonalds (though you get more respect at McDonalds).  These kids (and again this is about those who fit this discription not the ones who aren't a problem) have succeded in turning Madison into a center with  some of the worst attendence and adherence numbers, lower and lower QA scores, higher theft in the break room, and more and more messes in the bathrooms, break room and cubes.

Maybe I've been doing it too long, but I can tell a same-room call within 30 seconds of the little fucker picking up the phone and being super excited that it's relay.  I dispise having to sit there for 10 mintues anymore for a lead-op to come over and then a supervisor while I have to say things and have them drag ME into the conversation.  Sorry but saying "ass" over and over isn't funny unless you have the mentality and maturity of a 4th grader.

Maybe it stems from the old days when "same room" meant nothing, and our critera simply tried to protect operators from abuse (which usually it took a minute or less to get responded to!)...you'd process these calls for HOURS saying "fuck" literally 200 times, or  playing the "who is this" game.  It got old FAST.

Drug testing would be nice...we'd lose like half the center in terms of ops and sups and probably management, but for those of us that like at least SOME maturity, it'd be nice.

And like LMA said, prank calls are VASTLY different for women to process than guys.  Untill you've had someone threaten your life and threaten to rape/assault you in extreamly serious and non funny tones, you have no clue.

I've yet to be threatened by rape, but twice I've had to listen to males jack off while I repeated what the typing person said. It's pretty sickening when I'm waiting for the IM person and they're sitting there whining, "Oh baby please don't stop speaking" 9_9; I HATE this job, I can't wait until someone bites on my applications. If I wanted to work as a sex phone operator I could be making much, much more money.

My center has actually taken away pens and shit on the floor because they think operators are writing numbers down.

 

 

...to be honest I don't blame the operators. They want to fuck with us, why can't we fuck with them back?
