Oh yeah, you can kiss quality relay goodbye, as Go America (which has swallowed up IP Relay), has transferred their service to the Philippines. I also lost my relay job due to that transfer. It is a much coveted job there, but although the Philippines is the third largest English-speaking nation in the world, English is not their first language, and I've heard that the amount of complaints filed against operators has increased. I honestly enjoyed my job as a relay operator, and although there was the usual annoyance with Nigerian scams, rude called parties, etc. I was able to laugh these calls off, (after ending the call of course) :-) and relay the next call professionally. These Philippino operators are paid a fraction of what we were in North America, so it's the bottom line that means more to Go America, rather than quality service for the deaf.
I suggest that if the deaf community is unhappy with the quality of relay, please voice your opinions to Go America, and boycott that service if at all possible, so that they may consider bringing the service back home. Thanks, SKSK
