Hi Everyone. Sorry I've been gone so long. I've been checking in, but not posting... real life stuff gets inthe way of my online dutiesfar too often. I have a couple of things I want to addressabout this thread. As I mentioned above,Idon't want any further talk whatsoever about who is who in real life. Please do not use realnames when discussing people you work with(unless you're talking about management, then it's fair game).I also don't want to see any current or former op's telling other ops whether they should continue to post here after they leave IP Relay. That's a personal decision, and no one should be dictating who SHOULD post. We welcome all people here


Well, unless someone's been telling tales out of school, no one has shared any names other than mentioning a supervisor or two.  As for who left when and who went where, there was a mass migration from March thru June in Madison and a lot went to US Cellular; some went to Alliant, some to TDS.....the last time there was a mass migration, some went to Hamilton/WI Relay and some to Sitel or Humana.  For those who want to hang in until the bitter end, that's wonderful.   Take the$$ and run.  If you actually get it.  I don't trust management PERIOD.  They were nasty at unemployment hearings, they shorted final checks.....


I have a job now that I can feel good about when I get home at night, and I'm sorry I haven't been here as often as in the past.


To those of you who continue to work at a relay center, I would be more than happy to talk about it.   But there is still a bitter taste in my mouth from Verizon.

Anyone hear anything about the close date? I was hoping it'd be before Christmas rolled around so I could take my money and run and not have to worry about the crappiness of asking off for the holidays.

Would I be paranoid in imagining most every who's left (once the close date is given) being fired within the last week before close, so they can give out as little in the way of severance as possible?

I'm pretty sure they mentioned the transition will be late October to mid November, but nothing official has came out yet.. then again, what do the operators know?



I highly doubt they'll fire people at random, perhaps they'll get strict and start monitoring calls and writing people up with the ultimate goal of firing them. But I'm pretty sure we can try for wrongful termination if you are fired without warnings (meaning, other people has gotten warnings for the same act done whereas you got fired) or something to the extreme was broken (confidentiality).



I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Is Madison gonna close anytime soon?  They are not hiring again and class is supposed to start Nov 11th.  I think they're just gonna drag it on forever and screw us all over.  I don't know how much more I can take!

No, they ARE hiring again. New training classes begin November 19th.

i had a feeling that they were going to start hiring again. call centers have ridiculous turn around, and no way would everyone stay put. i think the severance package is turning out to be a carrot on a stick and it's getting harder and harder to hold out.
