Now, everyone screws up spelling from time to time...but it's real hard to take people seriously sometimes when they consistantly screw up a word that either changes the whole meaning of the the conversation or shows just a total lapse in intellegence.Snickers dept (instead of sneakers dept...gotta love stupid nigerians!)Candle the acct (took 30+ minutes for the rep to realize and clarify with the person they meant CANCEL)Live Pep (seriously funny as hell)Dis, Dat, den (I REALLY hate "ghetto speak").Ax a question....it's ASK dammit all!Readil (soooo close)Redaeling (no where even close so don't get pissy cause I don't recognize your made up word!)If people want to be taken seriously, stop typinlik dis whn dat makes yu lok lik u cudnt pass 5th grad. It's worth taking the extra split second to spell out a word right so the point of the conversation gets across to the person. Remember too that realy operators are NOT interpreters...our job is to relay word for word what is typed and type word for word what the person says. It's not our job to correct horriffic misspells or try to guess what you mean when you try to condense words by removing vowels or just making up abbreviations. If you're going to type "ghetto speak" then in all odds your operator will voice it in a way that emphasizes "dis, dat, den, axing a question, tht wht wat" and so on.

What I love is the term admonishing  an opr  because  they   "mispronounced" what the orig has typed.    The gross misspellings are an insult to anyone with intelligence and I for one  don't understand  how those in a disability centered learning institution got that far when they are unable to spell in a simple request for food delivery!

It is almost a laughing matter when a supervisor has to be called over for abuse only to explain to a term that the opr is merely doing his/her job.

Of course we are not just talking about the deaf community here....many same room prank calls are detected when someone screams "learn how to spell" to the person doing the typing.

Off my soapbox.

HAHA that is CLASSIC!!

I love it when Terms ask "what did they just say I didn't understand "...and I redirect them and explain that I relay word for word and if something didn't make sense they need to ask the person to clarify.

Pranksters are funny cause the Orig will type something grossly wrong, and of course, we spell it (more just to annoy them LOL), and the Term will then YELL "NO IT's ________ stupid operator"....ding ding supervisor assistance LOL.

I want to tell them that if they want their perverted conversations relayed without me saying "opr here spelling..." then they should take the time to actually spell "penis" right and not be a dip shit.

Ugh with "ghetto" speak I pronounce everything really really bad.. like.. if they type "wat" I say "wat" (rhymes with hat) or dat could be "date" i am BAD when it comes to ghetto speak because I REFUSE to talk like that.. even if it is for someone who can't speak for themselves.
Also, penis is "pen is" unless its a legitimate call.

I know im no spelling genius myself, and I'll do the best with words people are unsure of spelling (pepperoni is often times peropini or pepprani or paprooni... or something like that)

bt i don typ leik dis

HAHA I'm bad when it comes to ghetto speak... I make sure to pause and emphasize "dis" and "dat" and whatever else.  The WORST is when you have both sides talking like that.  Makes you want to break out a 12-pack and start chuggin.

None of us are perfect spellers, but if you're communicating with a business or in a professional setting, using "dis" n "dat" really make people NOT take you seriously.

How about this one?

Opr get a live rap

I guess I was supposed to take that to mean "rep"  well we get points taken if we dont spell words right.  I think the user of the svc shd be held just as accountable as the oprs and that includes their verbatim error.
