Wow that's a great list. And let me say, I'm not against users giving me pre-call instructions on what to press, so long as it is very specific. That's quite a good list. Good lookin' out.

Hmm, nice list even to use in my private life, but what I am afraid of these won'twork all the time, because I need to, "Listen carefully as our menu options have changed".



Since this is Sprint's new policy to ask if we shoud (WAIT FOR LIVE PERSON QQ), I may just go ahead and print this out and bring it with me to work.



Now that I see altz posted this a couple months ago, I feel foolish

ok when all of these stupid phrases drop in that the term has typd and im thinking to myself "ask who" .  The true deaf get an attitutude when the menu is typed and they are asked to make a selection.  Duh, when I make a phone call I have to listen to the menu.  If they have such a plm with the recordings and having to make a simple decision as to which option to choose why dont they get a relative or friend to make the call for them?  It would be much easier than them expecting me to read their mind and decide what option they want.  Very seldom have I called an 800 nbr and the recording said "For live person chooose option blah blah blah" if u want cust svc, then say it!! A live rep can mean tech support, it can be cust svc, it can be new accts dept, it can be boo boo the fool for all i know.  Live rep does not tell the opr anything and at MCI we are not allowed to make the decison for the deaf person.  So it wld be nice if the deaf person wld realize that if they dont know what option they want then i damn sure dont know either.

From day one of working in relay (and i've been around a while) LIVE REP has been my numero uno irritant.



First of all, as was stated, deafies need to learn how to ask for what they want. The following phrases should become banned: liver rep, person alive, person speak, speak, talk person, and my favorie: live rep NOW opr!



That pisses me off.



First of all, like was said, a "live rep" could mean sooooo many things, cust svc, billing, tech support, reservations, appointments, etc etc. Saying "live rep" gets you no where. Try to provide more information. For example: "live rep in billing dept pls" or "live rep tech support for my sidekick pls". I don't appreciate being called STUPID by deafies all the time because their precious "live rep" isn't one of the menu choices. No sorry, I'm not the stupid. I'm not saying deafies are stupid either, but many are VERY ignorant about phone manners, manners in general, and well, the world in general.



Second, if I say there's "no live rep do u want to know the menu choices?", why do you say "REDIAL"?! Why am i readialing? I just heard the menu, i can type it for you NOW! If you type "redial" i HAVE to redial and spend an extra minute or two (while the you become more impatient) just because you're not getting it. DO NOT ASK TO REDIAL. I HAVE YOUR MENU CHOICES RECORDED. I WILL TYPE THEM FOR YOU.



Third, if I say a "live rep" is not available, and then i list the menu choices, please do NOT read them and then say "live rep" again! I already TOLD you its NOT AVAILABLE. You can tell me 1000 times and I will still say its NOT AVAILABLE 1000 times.



Fourth, please understand that companies don't like to have a "live rep" available immediately when you call. Why? Because employees cost money. Recordings? Dirt cheap. Most companies will do almost ANYTHING to keep you from talking to a live person. Many companies have special tty numbers you can call if you own a tty. I know some people don't, but keep it in mind. It will save you a lot of grief.



Finally, DO NOT insult, harass, or abuse the operator because you don't understand something. We're just doing our job according to guidelines that we HAVE to follow. If you need help understanding something or get confused, we are NOT ALLOWED to explain it to you. Please do not ask us to explain anything. We CAN'T. We will get in TROUBLE. All we can do for you is type exactly what we hear. That is all.

My biggest question is:

We're supposed to be the "transparent" link right?

So say for example you call a recording, you say into the phone "live rep" that doesn't do anything 99% of the time right? Exactly. So why are WE the "TRANSPARENT" link supposed to do all of the work?

Why can't they choose from the menu like EVERYONE ELSE?!
